HERCULES

Hercules (Herakles) - a demigod from Greek mythology. Conceived by Zeus, the chief of the gods, and the mortal Alcmene. Nursed by the goddess Hera (wife of Zeus), he gained supernatural powers. Through his strength and courage, he accomplished numerous heroic deeds, including defeating a mighty lion, whose skin later served as his garment and helmet. Heracles attained immortality and was welcomed to Mount Olympus among the gods.
